Qatar Introduces 550 Summer Activities for Young People

Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth has introduced a nationwide summer programme offering 550 activities through youth centres and partner organisations. The 2026 Summer Plan is designed to keep young people active during the school holidays while giving them opportunities to learn, volunteer and develop practical skills. Activities will be available through participating centres across the country.

The programme includes 142 activities related to civic participation, 125 covering education, research and innovation, and 118 focused on youth health. Other sessions will address entrepreneurship, environmental awareness, technology and social topics. The full programme is organised around seven main areas, including employment, digital media and information technology.

Fawaz al-Mesaifri, director of the Department of Youth Centres and Organisations, said the ministry wants young people to gain knowledge, creativity and entrepreneurial experience. He described the programme as an investment in the abilities of Qatar’s youth. The plan also seeks to promote national identity, Qatari values, responsible citizenship and social participation.

Fatima al-Marwani, head of programmes for youth centres and organisations, said youth groups helped prepare a balanced schedule combining education with recreation. Faisal al-Ibrahim, head of youth centres and organisations affairs, said participating centres had completed their administrative and logistical preparations.

The activities include training workshops, youth camps, competitions, cultural events, sports and volunteering opportunities. They are intended to improve teamwork and give participants useful experience in a safe learning environment. The programme also supports Qatar’s wider goals for innovation, creativity and youth participation under Qatar National Vision 2030.
