Benin celebrates its 66th Independence Day today, 1 August, honouring the moment in 1960 when the country gained sovereignty from France. National flags, official ceremonies, cultural programmes and community gatherings give the day a joyful atmosphere from Porto-Novo and Cotonou to towns and villages across the country.

Pravasi Bharathiya Samman Award 2025

Former MIC President and Former Minister of Health, Tan Sri Dr S.Subramaniam was conferred the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025 by the Indian government at the recent !8th Edition of the Pravasi Bharathiya Divas Convention held in Bhubaneswar, Oddisa from the 8th to the 10th of January. The Convention is held on a biennial basis and at each Convention, the Indian Government has gazetted that a maximum of 30 Persons of Indian will be conferred this award.
