Kazakhstan's women's chess team finished the 46th World Chess Olympiad unbeaten and won silver in Samarkand. The team collected 18 points from seven wins and four draws across eleven rounds. China took gold and India won bronze. Kazakhstan placed second among 189 teams in the women's competition.
The tournament ran from September 16 to 27 and brought together nearly 400 teams across its sections. Kazakhstan ended its campaign with a draw against Poland in the final round. The result secured a second consecutive silver medal, following its runner-up finish at the 2024 Olympiad in Hungary. It was also the country's first undefeated women's campaign since entering the competition in 1992.
Bibisara Assaubayeva, Alua Nurman, Meruyert Kamalidenova, Yelnaz Kaliakhmet and Zarina Nurgaliyeva made up the team. Kaliakhmet and Nurgaliyeva, both sixteen, were making their Olympiad debuts. Assaubayeva extended her own unbeaten record across three consecutive Olympiads. Their individual results contributed to a team campaign without a match defeat.
Kazakhstan's men's team completed its tournament with a 2-2 draw against Vietnam. It finished with fifteen points, recording six wins, three draws and two losses. Uzbekistan won the men's title, India placed second and Germany took bronze. Germany's result was its first Olympiad medal since winning silver in 2000, while Kazakhstan's women's silver remained the country's leading team result at this edition.
