AlUla Schedules November Festival of Balloon Flights and Stargazing

AlUla Skies Festival will return from November 6 to 15, 2026, with balloon flights, stargazing, outdoor cinema and wellness activities. The Saudi destination has moved the event from its previous April timing to November to align with favourable astronomical conditions. Moonless nights are expected from November 7 to 12, including a new moon on November 9. The festival's final day will coincide with the Leonid meteor shower.

AlUla Skyrise will feature thirty hot-air balloons flying above Hegra at sunrise. Daily flights will last about sixty minutes and will be open to visitors aged six and older. Selected hotels will provide pick-up locations, with other collection points arranged for the public. Visitors will also be able to choose shorter tethered balloon ascents.

Balloon Glow Shows are scheduled at Hegra on November 6 and 7 and at Elephant Rock on November 13 and 14. The programmes will include projections, music, fire performances and aerial acts. Evening activities will feature telescope-assisted stargazing at AlUla Fort, night hikes and VOX Moonlight Cinema at Our Habitas AlUla. Sunset Stillness sessions on November 13 and 14 will offer guided meditation, sound-based relaxation and breathing exercises.

Daytime temperatures in November usually average about 25 to 28 degrees Celsius, while nights commonly fall to around 9 to 15 degrees. Under favourable conditions, the Leonid shower could produce up to twenty visible meteors an hour. The programme is part of the AlUla Moments calendar. New activities this year include the AlUla Fort stargazing sessions and Sunset Stillness, alongside the returning balloon experiences.
