Three Moroccan Stars Make CAF’s Interclub Player of the Year Shortlist

Mounir Chouiar, Soufiane El Moudane, and Mohamed Rabie Hrimat have been included among the nominees for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Interclub Player of the Year award, representing the country in another category of CAF awards.

The three players have enjoyed different but equally notable campaigns. The players’ performances in Elbotola Pro and in continental tournaments strengthened Morocco’s presence among Africa’s leading football nations.

Mounir Chouiar’s attacking contribution at RS Berkane

Mounir Chouiar has been one of RS Berkane’s most important attacking players, contributing goals and assists across competitions.

The French-born Moroccan winger recorded 38 appearances, 13 goals and 8 assists during the 2025-26 campaign.

His contribution was also evident in the CAF Champions League, where he registered one goal and four assists in 10 appearances.

Chouiar’s ability to operate in wide attacking positions and involvement in the final third made him an important part of Bobista’s squad.

The nomination also shows RS Berkane’s continued presence in continental football, following its achievements in recent seasons.

Soufian El Moudane shines with Olympique Safi

Soufian El Moudane has also earned recognition following an impressive campaign with Olympique Safi, particularly in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The midfielder made a significant contribution to Safi’s continental run, scoring five goals and providing one assist in nine appearances in the competition.

He also scored twice and registered one assist in the Botola Pro taking his contribution to six goals and two assists across the two competitions.

One of his most important performances came against Mali’s Djoliba, when he scored twice in Safi’s 2-1 victory in February 2026 and helped the Moroccan side secure qualification for the Confederation Cup quarter-finals.

El Moudane’s ability to contribute offensively from midfield made him one of the notable performers in Safi’s continental campaign.

Rabie Hrimat continues to lead AS FAR

Mohamed Rabie Hrimat completes the Moroccan trio after another productive season with AS FAR.

The midfielder combined his responsibilities in the middle of the pitch contribution in front of goal, finishing the 2025-26 campaign with eight goals in 26 Botola Pro appearances.

He also featured in 13 CAF Champions League matches, scored 3 and provided one assist, playing an important role in AS FAR’s continental campaign.

Across the two competitions, Hrimat registered 11 goals despite playing primarily as a central midfielder.

His leadership and ability to influence matches at both ends of the pitch have made him an important figure for the Rabat-based club.

Hrimat subsequently moved to Qatar’s Al Shamal, bringing an end to his spell with AS FAR.

The inclusion of the three players in the shortlist gives further recognition of Moroccan football’s growing influence in African competitions and the quality of players competing at the highest level of the continent’s club game.
