Bangladesh’s iFarmer Wins $250,000 OPEC Fund Award

Bangladeshi agritech startup iFarmer has won a $250,000 award from the OPEC Fund for International Development. The company received the Innovation for Development Award for helping smallholder farmers access finance, agricultural inputs, advisory support, weather information, and markets. The award was presented at the OPEC Fund Development Forum at Hofburg Palace in Vienna on June 23, 2026.

With this recognition, iFarmer became the first private-sector organization and startup from Bangladesh to receive the honor. The company has supported more than 300,000 farmers across Bangladesh through its digital platform. Its work focuses on improving access to essential agricultural services for farmers who often face barriers in finance and market access.

Tahmid Hasan, vice president of revenue at iFarmer, said the recognition shows the strong potential of Bangladeshi innovation in solving development challenges. He added that the company remains committed to building stronger food systems by supporting smallholder farmers through technology.

iFarmer was the only Bangladeshi organization among this year’s award recipients. The recognition is expected to improve the company’s global visibility and create new opportunities for international partnerships in sustainable agriculture.
