OIC Chief Congratulates Bangladesh on Khalilur Rahman’s Election as UN General Assembly President

His Excellency Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has congratulated the Government of Bangladesh and His Excellency Mr Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In his message, the OIC Secretary-General conveyed his best wishes to Mr Rahman as he prepares to assume his new responsibilities. He expressed confidence that Mr Rahman’s diplomatic experience and leadership skills would help advance multilateral cooperation and support efforts to address shared global issues. Mr Taha also highlighted Bangladesh’s positive contributions within the United Nations, the OIC, and the broader international community.

The Secretary-General further reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation and coordination with the Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly. He said the organisation looks forward to working together in support of global peace, security, and sustainable development.

Mr Rahman’s election represents a significant milestone for Bangladesh.
