The UAE’s National Committee for the Agentic AI Project has introduced a common guide for redesigning federal services around artificial intelligence assistants. The Assistant AI Government Experience Design Guide is intended to help agencies move from separate procedures towards services organised around the result a customer needs. It sets a shared approach for ministries and federal entities involved in the programme.
Under the present model, customers often have to identify the right authority, understand its requirements, submit documents and follow each stage of a transaction. The proposed model would begin with a conversation in which an AI assistant identifies the request and determines which steps and agencies are involved. It could then use information already held by government, carry out the required actions and coordinate with the relevant entities.
The guide was presented during a specialised workshop attended by service and AI teams from federal ministries and agencies. Mohammed Rashid bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange, said users are mainly interested in obtaining a completed result rather than working through a long series of procedures. He said performance should therefore be judged by whether the service is completed, not by the number of messages exchanged.
A fully operating assistant would also need to plan tasks, manage exceptions and continue until it reaches a clear outcome. The guide seeks to move the government experience beyond digital forms that still require customers to manage each step themselves. Its main aim is to shift more of the administrative work from the customer to the public service system.
