Afghanistan has opened a five-day telecommunications and technology exhibition in Kabul, bringing companies, students and visitors together around the country’s expanding digital sector. Organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology with private-sector partners, the event includes more than 200 exhibition booths. Displays cover software, hardware, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, financial technology, online commerce, startups, advanced networks and technology education.

Exhibitor Zakirullah Amini presented a marketing platform designed to connect customers with businesses. He said visitor interest had helped his company reach new clients and sign agreements with firms seeking to join the system. Another participant, Elyasuddin Baraki, displayed lithium batteries, inverters and high-efficiency solar panels intended to make modern energy and communications tools more accessible.

Students from Kabul University’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology are also presenting their work. Sixth-semester student Mohammad Aref said his team brought 15 projects combining software and hardware, along with nearly 10 software-only products. One of the main entries uses artificial intelligence to identify and disable drones entering restricted airspace.

The exhibition places commercial products beside student research, giving young developers an opportunity to explain their ideas to potential users and partners. It also shows the range of fields now attracting attention in Afghanistan, from payment technology and online retail to renewable-energy equipment and network systems. Participants see the gathering as a place to find customers, develop practical products and demonstrate local technical ability.

The event’s broader aim is to support digital services and strengthen connections between education and private enterprise. Organisers have also discussed Afghanistan’s geographic potential as a future data route between South Asia and Central Asia. For students and startup founders, however, the immediate value lies in presenting working ideas, receiving direct feedback and building professional contacts.
