Malaysian Tourism Delegation Visits Uzbekistan to Strengthen Bilateral Tourism Cooperation

In a significant step towards enhancing tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia, a delegation representing Malaysia’s tourism industry paid a working visit to Uzbekistan from July 3 to July 9, 2025.

Organized at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur and the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the delegation included leaders from key Malaysian tourism associations such as the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA), the Association of Bumiputera Tourism Operating Companies of Malaysia (BUMITRA), and the Association of Umrah and Hajj Tourism Agencies (PAPUH). More than 25 Malaysian travel companies were represented in the delegation.

Prominent Malaysian actress and TV presenter Adrea Abdullah also joined the visit at the invitation of the Uzbek side, lending further visibility and media attention to the event.

During their week-long stay, the delegation toured Jizzakh, Samarkand, Bukhara regions, and Tashkent city. The visit provided the Malaysian delegation with a unique opportunity to explore Uzbekistan's rich cultural heritage, Islamic pilgrimage sites, and growing tourism infrastructure.

A series of presentations showcasing Uzbekistan’s tourism potential were held alongside “G2B” (Government-to-Business) and “B2B” (Business-to-Business) meetings. These sessions brought together Uzbek and Malaysian tour operators to discuss opportunities for expanding the flow of Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan and establishing long-term partnerships.

As part of the visit, delegates also had the opportunity to experience the services provided by Uzbekistan Airways, including the comfort and convenience of the direct Kuala Lumpur – Tashkent – Kuala Lumpur flight route.

This landmark visit follows the successful official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Malaysia on February 4 - 5, 2025, and serves as part of the implementation of key bilateral agreements in the field of tourism.

The visit underscores the shared commitment of both nations to foster closer cooperation in the tourism sector and paves the way for increased people-to-people exchanges and economic collaboration.
