Forty-nine of the OIC member countries confirmed 58,966 new COVID-19 patients on 20 November bringing the total OIC infections to 5,886,282 since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic. This figure accounts for 10.17% of COVID-19 confirmed cases worldwide as of the same day. While 13 OIC members reported over one thousand new COVID-19 cases seven of them had no new infections on 20 November. Iran alone has 14.07% of all OIC confirmed cases.
In total 886,577 COVID-19 patients are still receiving treatment in 55 OIC member countries, with 17 of them having over ten thousand active cases as of 20 November. While Iran has the largest number of OIC's active COVID-19 cases (195,456)11 of its members have less than 100 active cases each. The largest number of single-day infections (13,260) was reported by Iran. Meanwhile 7 OIC nations did not report new cases on 20 November.
A total of 38,235 COVID-19 patients had reportedly recovered in 48 OIC member countries on 20 November, bringing the total OIC recoveries to 4,858,125. This figure represents 82.53% of all OIC's confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. A total of 53 OIC nations had over 50% recovery rates, of which 24 had more than 90% recovery rates, on the same day. Iran had the largest number of single-day recoveries (5,321) and Cote d'Ivoire had the highest recovery rate (98.34%) among the OIC nations on the same day.
The fatality rate of COVID-19 in the infected OIC member countries was 2.4% on 20 November. A total of 1546 patients reportedly passed away in 32 members, bringing the pandemic's death toll to 141,511. While 20 OIC countries have more than 1,000 COVID-19 deaths, 14 of them have less than 100 fatalities. Iran had the largest number of fatalities (479) among all OIC countries and Yemen had the highest fatality rate of 29.09%. Three other OIC nations had over 100 deaths on the same day namely Pakistan (313), Tunisia (143) and Turkey (141).
