The Government of Senegal Implements Mega Housing Project

Among the governmental efforts to develop Senegal’s economy and enhance the life of its people, a mega housing project is being implemented in the countryside to ease the mounting overcrowding and traffic congestion in the capital city Dakar. The project is called the City of Diamnadio and its estimated cost is USD 2 billion. The project was first approved in 2013 and later launched in 2014. The new city will have affordable housing, an industrial park, a university and entertainment facilities. The project is designed as a smart city and an economic hub, contributing to the growing economy and making it affordable for middle class citizens to own houses.
